Police invite Fubara’s Ex-SSG Tammy Danagogo over alleged assassination plot against Wike

The Nigeria Police Force has invited a former Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Tammy Wenike Danagogo, for questioning over a leaked phone conversation allegedly linked to a plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The invitation was issued by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja, following the interception of a recorded phone conversation reportedly involving Danagogo and Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a medical doctor and founder of Life Forte Chapel Church in Port Harcourt.

Danagogo, a close ally of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, is alleged to have taken part in discussions contained in the leaked audio, which has since gone viral on social media. In the recording, the suspects allegedly discussed plans to engage Israeli nationals to carry out the assassination of the FCT minister. The conversation reportedly concluded with an alleged plan to approach Governor Fubara for funding to execute the operation.

A senior security source described the content of the call as a serious national security concern. “The content of the call was considered a grave national security threat. That was what triggered the immediate action by the IRT,” the source said.

In an invitation letter dated January 9, Danagogo was directed to report in person to the IRT complex in the Guzape District of Abuja as part of what the police described as an “ongoing investigation.” The letter instructed him to appear on Thursday, January 15, at 10:00 a.m. at the IRT facility located at the Old Abattoir area near Guzape Junction.

Upon arrival, Danagogo was asked to report to CSP Hillary Ugwuanyi and his investigative team.

“This office is inviting you over an ongoing investigation, to appear in person to shed light on some information,” the letter stated.

The police emphasized that the invitation was a fact-finding exercise conducted in the interest of justice and fairness, citing Section 53(2)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015, as the legal basis for the summons.

“Please be informed that this is a fact-finding exercise in the interest of justice and fairness, in line with the provisions of Section 53(2)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015. Your prompt response in this regard is most required,” the letter added.

Although the police invitation did not explicitly mention Wike or provide details of the alleged conversation, sources familiar with the investigation told SaharaReporters that the summons is directly connected to the viral audio recording.

Danagogo, who served as SSG during the height of the political crisis in Rivers State, has been repeatedly mentioned in online reports linking him to the leaked recording, which has further heightened political tensions in the state and beyond.
