Champions emerge at the CBN Junior Tennis

Over 300 Junior Tennis Players featured at this 2024 edition of the annual Central Bank of Nigeria Junior Tennis Championship concluded in Lagos at the weekend.

Held from September 1-7 2024 at the National Stadium Surulere and the Lagos Lawn Tennis club where the grand finale took place, the Championship was played in six categories, U-12 boys and girls, U-14 boys and girls and U-16 boys and girls.

Playing in the U-16 girls category final, Gloria Samuel outplayed her Ekiti State team mate, Goodnews Aina 3-2 in a tough encounter that could have gone either way while David Edward of Lagos, subdued his Abuja opponent, Dubem Amasiani (Abuja ) by beating him 4-0 in the final.

Benue state rising star, Goodluck Tersoo, who had earlier stopped Ikem Amasiani from Abuja 3-1 in the boys U-12 category made it double victory for himself when he beat Lagos boy, Isa Yahaya to 3-1 in the U-14 boys final to cart away two trophies.

The U-12 girls trophy went to Success Godwin who beat Mabubat Rasaki in the final while Mofi Antilola of Lagos defeated Bisola Ogunkolade from Ekiti State 3-0 to emerge the U-14 girls Champion.

Vice Chairman of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club who represented the club at grand finale, gave kudos to the CBN for the annual sponsorship of Tennis game in the country.
