Confusion in Imo over arrest of Rochas Okrocha’s Son In-law, Uche Nwosu

There was confusion in Imo State on Sunday over alleged kidnap of a former Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Uche Nwosu.

But the state Police Command said that Chief Uche Nwosu, a former commissioner and son-in-law of former state governor, Richard Okorocha, was arrested and not kidnapped as widely reported in the social media.,

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Michael Abattam, who had initially denied knowledge of the incident said the politician is in police custody.

Mbattam ssid “Chief Uche Nwosu was not kidnapped but was arrested by the police and Imo state police command is aware of the arrest and presently he is in police custody.”

According to the command, “This is to refute the earlier news that has being making rounds on social media that he was kidnapped by unknown persons / gunmen.”

“The Commissioner of Police while using this medium to assure imolites of the command’s commitment in ensuring the safety of Life and prosperity this yuletide seasons , advised the general public to always shun fake news, Abattam said in a statement.

It would be recalled that Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodinma has been in a running battle with the immediate past Governor Rochas Okotocha who is now a Senator and his inlaw Uche Nwosu over the implementation of the state government’s white paper on the illeged illegal acquisition of government properties which it (government) is out to recover.
