
A statement by Osun Caretaker Chairman of PDP, Adekunle Akindele, expressed sadness over the incident and prayed with the family for God to console them.
He stated, “Following the death of Ifeanyi, all party activities are hereby suspended to commiseration with the family of Adeleke.
“We mourn the sorrowful exit of our son, Ifeanyi. We pray for the repose of his soul. It is a sad day but we remain steadfast in our faith in the Lord of the Universe.
“Our condolences go to Davido, our youth ambassador. We commiserate with our father figure, Dr Deji Adeleke, and the entire Adeleke family. We pray the good Lord to grant the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
The PDP announced that it was suspending its political activities yesterday for the week, following the death of Ifeanyi, who is a nephew of governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke.
Akindele described the incident as “a very sad occurrence”.

Senate Chief Whip, Orji Kalu, expressed condolences to Davido and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, over the passing of their son.
Tears flow over death of singer Davido’s son, Ifeanyi
Kalu expressed his condolences in a post on his official Facebook page yesterday.
“Dear David/Chioma, I am sober, and I am deeply saddened by your son’s death, Ifeanyi. I’ve cancelled my official engagements for today to mourn him quietly. Everyone will miss Ifeanyi. May the Creator accept our prayers for him,” he added.
In a similar vein, Kalu announced the cancellation of all official engagements scheduled for yesterday to mourn the tragic death of the late Davido’s son.
Recall Ifeanyi drowned on Monday while the parents were away from their home on Banana Island in Lagos.
After the incident, celebrities and other Nigerians have continued to send their condolences to the singer, who is set to marry Chioma in 2023.
*Police probe all domestic staff
In the meantime, the Lagos State Police Command has already invited all domestic staff who were present at the time of the incident for investigation.
The state Police Command revealed that all members of Davido’s domestic staff are in their custody.
The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, “Domestic staff at Davido’a home have been taken to the station to give their account of what happened. I wouldn’t call that arrest yet.
“If after they all give their account of what happened and after preliminary investigations, if anyone of them is found culpable, the person will now be placed under arrest.”
