Teenager dies from “one chip challenge”

A teenager, Harris Wolobah, died in Massachusetts on Friday after allegedly participating in a viral social media trend known as the “One Chip Challenge”.

 

According to the mother, Lois Wolobah, the 14-year-old died as a result of the challenge after he ate an extremely spicy Paqui chip at school and became sick afterwards.

 

The One Chip Challenge is a social media challenge that involves eating purportedly the spiciest tortilla chip in the world, and then waiting as long as possible before eating or drinking something for relief.

According to the mother, she was called to the school by a nurse on Friday and was told by a nurse that a classmate gave him the chip, leaving him with a bad stomach ache.

 

Harris’ cause of death has not been confirmed, and officials didn’t share more info information about the circumstances around it.
