Nigerians react as EFCC goes after Tinubu

Nigerians have reacted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s letter to the Code of Conduct Bureau, requesting copies of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu’s asset declaration form.

According to reports, the probe into Tinubu began in 2020 following the removal of EFCC former Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

“In view of the above, you are kindly requested to furnish the commission with the outstanding requested information of Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu.

“This request is made pursuant to Section 38(1) and (2) of the EFCC Act 2004,” the letter dated November 6th, 2020 read.

Reacting to the news, A Twitter user, @kongees tweeted: This is a ploy to deceive us. After a while, you will read that he is cleared. No sign of ill gotten wealth. The next thing you will see are posters everywhere saying Tinubu for 2023.”

@just_nweke tweeted: “Maybe Gagaban & Presidency have told the 40yrs old chairman to do this. So that his media houses will carry on this Headline: ‘Tinubu Cleared of financial crimes’ The next, his boys will move to the streets with his posters & banners: ‘Tinubu 2023’. APC, A Gangster Govt”

@nandy tweeted: “They are trying to cripple Tinibu so he doesn’t contest. Well,serves him right considering the government he brought in has turned on him….even if efcc doesn’t win,Nigerians will retire you.”

@mrshogbola tweeted: “Don’t fool us with selective investigation. Investigate others;-
