A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has tackled the Kano State Hisbah Police over its decision to interrogate the parents of the 44th Miss Nigeria, Shatu Garko.
ThisNigeria reported that the Hisbah Police boss, Sheik Ibn Sina, in an interview with BBC Pidgin said that Garko’s participation in the beauty pageant was “illegal” in Islam.
“We (Hisbah) have confirmed that Shatu Garko is a Muslim from Kano state and her parents come from Garko Local government area. Kano is a sharia state and this is why we would not allow the matter to pass.
“We will invite the parents to talk to them about the actions of their daughter and the fact that what she did is illegal in Islam in case they don’t know so that she would not continue in that path and also stop other girls from copying her

“In Islam, it is forbidden for one to contest in any beauty contest,” Ibn Sina said.
Reacting to the interview via Instagram, Omokri wrote: “Kano’s Hisbah want to interrogate, Miss Nigeria, Shatu Garko, and her parents, over her unIslamic participation in Miss Nigeria? Wonderful! Kano’s Governor was caught on camera stashing bribes in dollars.
“Has the Hisbah interrogated him? What happened to the Hisbah commander that was caught in a hotel with a married woman in February? Or do they think we have forgotten? Perhaps the Hisbah commander was teaching the married woman bedroom Hisbah? Or are those acts not unIslamic?”
