NNL Match Day 8: Giant Brillars beat Ekiti United 2-1 in Enugu
Giant Brillars Football Club of Enugu on Wednesday beat visiting Ekiti United FC 2-1 in a Match Day 8 fixture of the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL).
Wisdom Ubani scored in the 33rd minute for Giant Brillars, while Ekiti United restored parity in the 77th minute of the match.
A late minute goal from Mohammed Muritala won it for the host team in the match played in Enugu.
Speaking after the match, Giant Brillars’ coach, Afeez Suleiman, praised his players for their resilience in the match.
“These three points are vital for us and we are going home to work more on our tactics so that we can get good results in our remaining matches of the league.
“We played a tough side today, but thank God we won and we want to go three more matches unbeaten.
“Giant Brillars are targeting nine points from our forthcoming three matches in the league.”
Suleiman acknowledged that his team missed lots of chances in the match like in their previous matches.
“We have been working on the lapses of not converting our chances and that was why we brought in former Nigeria international, Nduka Ugbade, to help,” he said.
The coach noted that they have learnt a lot from Ugbade and that his presence was beginning to be felt in matches.
