ASUU’s Strike: Ondo NLC Joins Nationwide Protest

Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Ondo State trooped out massively on Tuesday to join their counterparts across the country in solidarity with ASUU over the five months prolonged strike.

NLC’s national body has declared two days of protest to seek an end to the lingering ASUU strike.
The workers who turned out in their numbers include members of ASUU and other trade unions.

The workers decked on branded shirts, and converged on the Cenotaph, Alagbaka, Akure the State capital as early as 8:00 am where they took off to some popular locations within the metropolis.

They displayed placards and banners with various inscriptions, such as “Enough is Enough” and “End ASUU Strike Now” among others.

While addressing the protesters, NLC Chairman in the state, Sunday Adeleye, expressed displeasure over the lingering strike which he noted had crippled tertiary education in the country.

He appealed to the federal government to accede to the demands of university lecturers to allow students to return to their classrooms.

Adeleye reiterated the commitment of NLC to promoting good government to safeguard Nigerians’ future, particularly those of workers and students.
