Residents Arrest Suspected Vandals In Edo
By Victor Ofure Osehobo, Benin

Several persons have been arrested by vigilant residents in connection with the foiled attack on the hall at Edo deputy governor’s residence in Jattu, Etsako West local government of Edo state.
Those arrested are said to have instigated others in a bid to get them to invade and vandalize the Hall in search of Covid-19 palliatives.
But one of those arrested Mr Atarodo says that he was not involved in spreading the false information about the hall in the deputy governor’s residence harbouring Covid-19 palliatives.
The office of the deputy governor in a statement by Mr Benjamin Atu however said that Mr Atarodo was arrested in the company of others by residents as a result.
Atarodo said, “I was supervising construction work on a site in my area when they came and said I was being arrested based on the allegation”.
The statement also dismissed the widespread allegation that some palliatives were found in the Deputy Governor’s describing it as an excuse by detractors to attack the Deputy Governor’s home and destroy properties.
The statement said, “there have been efforts by hoodlums and political thugs sponsored by the opposition, to invade and destroy properties belonging to the Deputy Governor under the disguise of palliative search”.
“All Palliatives that were sent to Edo North were disbursed directly to the local Government for instant distribution to the beneficiaries. Edo North does not have a Central reserve where palliatives were kept”.
