The Director General of the All Progressives Congress in the last Governorship Election in Edo State, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe on Wednesday told journalists in Abuja that if there is anything in his life ever regretted doing was his assignment as the DG of that election.

Esekhaigbe, a former Military Attaché to United Kingdom said Edo State All Progressives Congress cut themselves in a web of inconsistency.

“See the day you start to denning the fact that Oshiomhole is the leader of APC in Edo state that  is the day you start to dilute yourself, the more effort you do to relegate Oshiomhole in APC,  the more mistakes you make, look at the time he was the governor of the state, look  all he did are there for people to see. there are some people who have natural appeal, you only exploit that positive side for the benefit of the society.

“Edo APC is fighting itself, now I was the DG of that campaign and for benefit of inside, it was something that meant to collapse because when Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu picked the ticket the only thing he needed to do was to go to his co-contestant in truth and in spirit to work with him and show humility, as the DG of that campaign if I have never regretted been the DG, I am deceiving myself, my consolation is that I defended the offensive to Oshiomhole that allowed me to pulled the storm because there was no organisational structure, there was unnecessary pride, the Hausa says you don’t prize mockery on the top of a tree, Edo APC was prizing mockery on top tree.

“Another terrible issue, the people that was originally in APC before Ize-Iyamu came, were not carried along in the scheme of things, they were not respected in the process, the APC National body itself what was their level of cooperation in the APC election in Edo state? APC got themselves in problems with unnecessary fight within Godwin Obaseki and Adams Oshiomhole and the inability of the APC National to resolve that crisis was a problem.

“And the fact APC was not united before that election, because it is said that united we stand , divided we fall. APC in Edo State need to be rebranded, look inward , weather you like it or not, APC National should genuinely look at APC in Edo State and see if it meets their expectation, and standard as a party, when a party looses an election, it should look inward to see what went wrong, and it is not a thing you do in cosmetic fashion, the earlier they look inward the better, in the military there is what is called lesson learned, if you avoid it, you can’t make any head way.”
