Energia unveils trainee scheme to build energy leaders

By Francis Ajuonuma
Energia Limited has launched an ambitious Graduate Trainee Programme designed to shape a new generation of Nigerian energy professionals and strengthen the country’s human capital in the oil and gas sector.
Announcing the initiative on Monday in Lagos, the independent energy company said the programme is structured to equip young graduates with practical skills, industry exposure, and mentorship that would accelerate their readiness for long-term careers in the evolving energy landscape.
According to Energia’s Chief Operating Officer, Oladimeji Bashorun, the programme reflects the company’s long-term vision to invest in talent that will drive innovation and sustainability across the sector.
“At Energia, we recognise that the future of our industry lies in the hands of today’s young professionals. This programme is our way of investing in Nigeria’s brightest minds, equipping them with practical skills, exposure, and the confidence to thrive in a fast-evolving energy landscape,” he said.
General Manager, HR & Corporate Services, Tope Daramola, noted that the initiative is designed not just as a work placement opportunity but as a foundation for building a strong talent pipeline.
“Our goal is to provide young Nigerians with more than just work experience; we are offering a launch pad for meaningful careers. Through mentorship, teamwork, and continuous learning, our trainees will develop the competence and values that define Energia’s culture of excellence and innovation,” he said.
The programme offers rotational exposure across field and office operations, giving trainees a holistic understanding of Energia’s activities and the broader oil and gas value chain.
It is open to graduates with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper degree, or Second-Class Lower with a Master’s distinction, in Engineering, Geosciences, Business, Finance and related disciplines. Applicants must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2023 or later.
Energia said the programme aligns with its broader vision of becoming one of Africa’s leading sustainable energy providers, driven by excellence, integrity, and the development of local talent.
Prospective candidates can apply through the company’s website before the December 12, 2025, deadline.
Founded as an independent oil and gas operator, Energia maintains a strong commitment to responsible energy development, community engagement and world-class safety standards, while contributing to Nigeria’s long-term energy future.
