A former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Alhaji AbdulWaheed Akintola Olajide, has died at the age of 80.
Olajide, who served as SSG during the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, according to a statement issued by his family on Wednesday.
The family described his death as the conclusion of a life dedicated to his family, public service and community.
“It is with gratitude to Almighty Allah for a life well lived, and with submission to His will, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and cousin, Alhaji Abdul Waheed Akintola Olajide, who returned to his Creator today, August 25, 2026,” the family said.
Olajide’s death comes after his years of service in the Oyo State Government, where he occupied the position of Secretary to the State Government under Ajimobi.
The family prayed for divine comfort and strength for his relatives and loved ones as they mourn his death.
“May Allah grant the entire family and all his loved ones the strength, patience and comfort to bear this loss,” the statement added.
The family announced that the Janazah prayer for the deceased will be held at 11am on Wednesday at the MAN Centre, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
