#EndSARS: Brutality Panel Sets Nov. 29 Deadline For All Petitions in Edo

All persons who are victims or families of victims of brutality by security agents have till 29th November 2020 to submit their petitions as grievances and complaints, to the State judicial panel on inquiry set up by the Edo state government.
Such petitions according to the Secretary of the panel, Mrs Josephine Ugbodaga, can be submitted physically or orally, at the Civic Centre of the New State Secretariat complex between 10am to 4pm on working days.
Mrs Ugbodaga said all petitions can come from across the state, but must state the circumstances and supported with evidence should be addressed to the chairman of the panel, can also be sent to the panel through the email: endsarsjudicialenquiry@edostate.gov.ng.
She added that while the state government is committed to ensuring that the rights of persons in the state are respected and protected by security agents, the panel is set up in a bid to end human rights violations and brutality by security agents.
On the terms of reference of the panel she said they include: to receive and investigate complaints of brutality by security agents, human rights violations or related extra judicial killings in Edo state.
In addition the panel is to evaluate evidence presented and other surrounding evidences and draw conclusions as to the validity of the complaints and recommend compensations and other remedial measures where appropriate.
It is to also ascertain if the officers responsible for the abuse of victims and recommend prosecution where possible as well as make recommendations to the state government on how to ensure the security that security agents no longer abuse the rights of citizens.
