JAMB error: Netizens demand justice for banned student, Mmesoma

Following the admittance that the mass failure during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was caused by an error from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), netizens have called for a review of the case of Mmesoma Ejikeme who allegedly manipulated her result in 2023.
The Registrar of the examination board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, on Tuesday, revealed that the mass failure in the 2025 UTME was caused by a glitch on the side of JAMB.
His revelation has opened old wounds as tweeps have continued to claim that Mmesoma was a victim of a JAMB glitch in 2023 but was bullied into accepting that she forged her result.
Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, had sat for the UTME in May 2023 and came under scrutiny for parading the “highest score” of 362, which JAMB later claimed was manipulated.
A panel that was set up to look into the case indicated in its findings that “the results released by the JAMB with respect to the UTME score of Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma is 249.
“Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma admitted that she manipulated the fake results herself, using her phone.”
However, some social media users have argued that Mmesoma was a litmus test for this year’s glitch.
A page on X, Good governance, a MUST, wrote, “Point of correction, that girl, Mmesoma, was the first victim of the JAMB terrorism, she did not falsify her exam score.”
A netizen, Chief UC Maxwell said, “Mmesoma was banned for 3 years from taking JAMB Exams. Hence, she’ll waste 3 years of her life at home. JAMB has just falsified the results of 400,000 teenagers/youths. Mmesoma falsified 1. JAMB should be banned forever.”
“Injustice to one is how they test the waters, it worked with one mmesoma, so why won’t it work with 400,000 mmesomas? Like I said then and now, it shall never be well with people that supported that injustice,” Mr. Chinedu claimed on X.
For Prince Dee, Mmesoma was innocent. He said, “How are we sure that she falsified her results? It’s because they succeeded in falsifying her results and nobody complained, that was why they decided to do a bigger one. Did you notice that after the result, the registrar tarnished the image of students from the southeast?”
Agwu Daberechi Daniel stated, “If Jamb could forge results of over 400,000 people, it is possible that Jamb messed up her result. Initially, she insisted and sounded innocent and honest. She’s probably a victim of manipulation by Chidoka, teachers, jamb and even police. They’ll be like ‘Just accept so that it ends’.”
“Probably Mmesoma didn’t forge her result, maybe her result was changed to prove her wrong. So, out of fear and pressure, and as a teenager that she was, she had to say she forged it. Jamb knows what dey did and are doing,” Debillions claimed.
