Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has said that most kidnappings in Nigeria are staged.
He said this in response to an X user, @Samuel Nzekwe, just few hours after the spokesperson said the cause of kidnapping is the country is blown out of proportion.
It can be recalled that Adejobi, speaking on the state of security in Nigeria, said that kidnapping in Lagos was triggered due to the waterways.
Commenting on the initial statement, Samuel wrote, “Excuses! Excuses!! Excuses!!!
“Kidnapping in lagos….”oh no, its because of the water ways that leads to Portharcourt and Bayelsa”
“Okay Sir, what of the ones in Ekiti, “oh…forget that one, it’s because of the forest in Ekiti…
Me: I’m tired. I give up!!.”
Adejobi, reacting to Samuel Nzekwe’s post, said, “You don’t need to give up. That is the reality. Most of the kidnapping cases we read online are not real.
“They are either staged and faked. We analyse security situations based on empirical facts and figures.
“We will have another forum or many other organized fora to discuss these concepts of kidnapping, abduction, one change, armed robbery, organised crimes, and arranged assassination.
“These are different concepts or crimes that we need to understand, and the psychology of the perpetrators. No sentiment, but realities.
“Open your mind to discussions and explanations of experts and security operatives for better understanding. Thanks.”
