
A suspected band of unknown gunmen on Tuesday night reportedly killed an unspecified number of people and razed many houses in Amangwu Ohafia community of Ohafia local government area of Abia State.
Sources said the incident has forced some members of the community to abandon their homes to seek refuge in nearby villages.
Also, a family of five was on Tuesday night said to have been burnt to death in Ebonyi State.
It was gathered that a mother, Chigozie Nte Onuobu, and her four children died in the fire that engulfed their home in Agubata Echara, Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.
The cause of the fire outbreak has not been unraveled, but a family member, Sunday Okoro, who confirmed the tragic incident, said it was probably a case of arson.
He wrote on social media, “I was speechless when I got the sad news this morning that my uncle’s grandchildren and their mother (Chigozie), were burnt by fire beyond recognition by unknown wicked ones at night. Four kids and their mother.
“What a wicked world we are. It happened at Agubata Echara in Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
“Why are all these happening in my state, my Local government, my village, my community, even my family?
“God show mercy. For those that did this atrocity, you have inherited generational curses. It shall never be well with you till Thy Kingdom Come. Amen”

Meanwhile, the Ebonyi Fire Service has confirmed the death of a woman and her three kids in the fire incident.
Director, State Fire Service, Mr Raphael Ibiam, said the fire occurred at night while the victims were asleep in their thatched house.
“On the cause of the fire, we were told that one man, a resident in the area, was responsible for the inferno. We learnt that the man set their house ablaze at night.
“The fire killed a woman and her three kids,” the director stated.
