Egyptian president appoints new armed forces chief-of-staff

Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, has appointed Lt.-Gen. Osama Askar as the new Chief-Of-Staff of the Armed Forces, replacing Lt.-Gen. Mohamed Farid.
The presidency office said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Farid the former chief-of-staff was also appointed as presidential adviser for the country’s Decent Life initiative, Bassam Rady.

Askar was appointed in late 2019 as the Chief Operations of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
He was an assistant secretary for the Minister of Defense in 2017.
