Veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu has denied that his controversial outfit is Biafran regalia.

Agu made the denial while he was being questioned by some soldiers on Thursday.

The actor had been arrested by some soldiers at Upper Iweka Road, Onitsha, Anambra state.

According to the Nigerian Army, Agu was allegedly soliciting for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement also said that the veteran demonstrated “uncharitable disposition to negate peace and security in the region, hence the need to take him into custody for preliminary investigation.”

Speaking after his arrest, Chiwetalu Agu said that he was sharing food to hungry Nigerians, not inciting the public as alleged by the Army.

“What I’m wearing is a civil dress. This is not Biafran wear it is a rising sun and not an eastern security outfit, ESN. I know where to go with this outfit.

“This sun on the dress I’m wearing is just a rising sun because I believe I must rise.

“I was sharing bread when they came to arrest me, I was not organising any demonstration. Is it wrong to feed the hungry Nigerians?” he said.
