What inspired your stage name?

My stage name Tdoe Cypher has a dope story behind it. When I started out as a freestyle artist, my peeps used to call me T Money. When I recorded my first track, I asked the producer to write Tdoe on the files, inspired by the word “doe” – short for dough, you feel me? Later, I added Cypher to my name after vibing with a Hennessy Cypher beat. It’s been a wild ride since then by the grace of Almighty Allah.

My sound is a fusion of Afro hip hop and dance hall, I am also an indigenous rapper – a vibrant blend of African rhythms, hip hop’s edge, and dance hall’s infectious energy. My favorite track, ‘Agba Baller’, hits close to home. It’s a real anthem for the streets, and I love how it motivates my people from the tough neighborhoods to keep pushing forward. I want them to know that they have the power to chase their dreams and take what’s rightfully theirs. This song’s more than just music – it’s a message of hope and resilience.

What is your creative process like?

When I’m in creative mode, it’s like a switch flips! If I’m feeling stuck, I’ll revisit something I’ve been working on, but if I’m feeling fresh, I’ll grab one of my random ideas and start building on it. I like to brainstorm and get my thoughts flowing, just enough to get the juices going. It’s exciting, you know? Seeing my ideas come to life, and knowing I’m creating something real.

Man, that was a low point for me! I paid to perform at this concert, and when the day arrived, the event was a mess. No planning, no organization… it was chaos. I was ready to give it my all, but it didn’t happen. It was frustrating, but it also taught me to be resilient and to keep pushing forward. Now, I look back and laugh, but at the time, it was tough.
