Scrap scavenger docked for stealing iron rods

A scrap scavenger, Reuben Onuwo, 35, was docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly stealing iron rods worth N600, 000.

The police charged Onuwo, whose residential address was not provided with conspiracy and theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Philip Amusan told the court that the defendant and others at large stole the iron rods on March 7, at about 6. 30 a.m at Unity Street, Felele, Ibadan.

He said the property belonged to Chief Stephen Ufondu.

The offense, said, contravened the provisions of sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N20, 000 and one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 4, for a hearing.
