The Senate has no preconceived position on any issue in the proposed constitutional amendment, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has said.
The Senate President, who gave this assurance at the plenary of the Red Chamber on Monday, said the zonal public hearings conducted last week and forthcoming national public hearing in Abuja aimed to give Nigerians opportunities to air their views.
Lagos presents 16 bills to State Assembly
Earlier, the Deputy President of the Senate, Movie Omo-Agege, noted that the national public hearing to be conducted by the Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 constitution this Thursday and Friday in the International Conference Centre, Abuja, was part of the Senate’s efforts at ensuring the participation of Nigerians and harnessing their views on the proposed alteration of some of the provisions of the 1999 constitution.
