13th W’Africa Deaf Football Championship: Eagles, Niger battle in semifinal clash today

 

 

The Deaf Super Eagles of Nigeria will today 27th August 2025 take on Niger Republic in the first semi-final game of the on-going 13th West Africa Deaf Football tournament holding at the Moshood Abiola National stadium Abuja alongside the 3rd West Africa Deaf Athletics championship.

As defending champions having won the trophy five times in the past with their last victory being in 2024, ,the Deaf Super Eagles topped group A with six points from two matches, spanking Cote D’Ivoire 3-0 in the games opener and a 3-2 victory against Gambia in their second game to remain unbeaten in the group stage while Gambia finished as group A runners up.

That match comes up at 2 pm, while the second semi-final game involving group B table toppers, Liberia and group A runners up, Gambia holds at 4 pm immediately after the first match.

A win against Niger Republic later today, will make it Nigeria’s 11th appearance in the final as they chase their 6th title.

Mobility player, Emeka Ikechukwu, who swaps from 7 to 11 is Nigeria’s tormentor in- chief with three goals in his kitty.

Meanwhile Deaf Eagles head coach, Kamiludeen Banjo is optimistic of an outright victory against Niger Republic.
In a chat with the media, coach Banjo said the Niger team cannot stop his men from getting to Saturday’s final.

According to him, the though the Nigerians are good but the Eagles are better.

” we are going all out for victory. I have the men that will do the job. Niger can not stop us. We are going for our 6th title and Niger cannot stop our victory runs. Though they are good are good but my men are better, ” Banjo concluded.
