By Cajetan Mmuta
A member of the seventh session of the Senate, Sen. Margery Okadigbo, has thrown her weight behind the gubernatorial ambition of Sen. Andy Uba for the Nov. 6 governorship election in Anambra state.

Margery who is the wife of the late Senate President, Chief Chuba Okadigbo disclosed her support at the inauguration of Sen. Andy Uba Campaign Council, held at Ogbunile in Oyi Local Government Area of the state.

She said Uba is the best among those contesting for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) based on his experience in public service and capacity to win the election for the party.

Okadigbo said Uba’s candidacy would increase the chances of APC victory on Nov. 6 by 50 percent because of his goodwill and wide acceptability across Anambra

The senator who addressed no fewer than 400 party representatives from the 15 electoral wards in Oyi LGA said the campaign council was to mobilize supporters in the area and others parts of the north senatorial district ahead of the primary election.

“We the people of Oyi have come together to chart our political course by endorsing the aspiration of Sen. Andy Uba, his support base here is massive and I can testify that having worked within the Senate, he has the capability to bring good governance to bare.

“We have security question in Anambra, we have an infrastructure deficit in Anambra, though we had the opportunity of having a governor from Anambra North Senatorial district and the first lady from Ogbunike here we have had the results,” she said.

On his part, Chief Ekene Enefe, a chieftain of APC Anambra could no longer continue to play parochial politics while wishing to be part of the national mainstream.

Enefe, who contested for Oyi/Anyamelum Federal Constituency under All Progressives Grand Alliance said people of the southeast should disabuse their minds about APC and embrace the party as it had transformed the region infrastructurally within its six years of existence.

He said a victory for the party would enhance the chances of the presidency of Igbo extraction in 2023 adding that only Andy Uba had the capacity and marketability to make APC emerge victoriously.

The chieftain called on the campaign council to get to work immediately by sensitizing and mobilizing people across party lines to support Andy Uba and the APC in Oyi and the entire Anambra.

“APC is not a regional party, APC is not about President Muhammadu Buhari it is a party that cares for all and every part of Nigeria, it is the party that can take us to the presidency, let us all join hands and ensure victory for APC in Anambra.

“Sen. Andy Uba is the best choice for Anambra governorship, and APC is the best party for us,” he said.
