Barely one month after the abduction and subsequent release of a former Commissioner for Higher Education in Nasarawa state, Chief Clement Uhembe, gunmen have kidnapped the Nasarawa state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Philips Shekwo.
Shekwo was abducted last night by the unknown gunmen in his Lafia residence along Kurikyo road in Lafia, the capital of the state after a gun battle with some security operatives.
State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bola Longe, who confirmed the incident to newsmen said the kidnappers invaded the house of the APC chairman at about 11:00 pm and whisked him to an unknown destination.
He said that the command had already deployed personnel to comb all criminal hide outs to ensure that the victim is rescued from his adductors, calling on members of the general public to assist the Police with useful information that will lead to the timely rescue of the party chieftain.
