Palliative: Include indigenous stakeholders in distribution, FCT natives appeal to Wike

By Deborah Onyofufeke, Abuja
The Indigenous people of FCT under the auspices of Abuja Original Inhabitant Youth Empowerment Organization, AOIYEO, have called on the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, to include all the natives’ stakeholders in the committee that would handle the distribution of the palliative.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the president of the group, Commandant Isaac David, who explained that the only way the palliatives can get to the rural people is through the engagement of the youth, elders and women stakeholders in the city.

He explained that the natives know better than any civil servant when it comes to core villages and inner communities in FCT, as such, for the distribution of the palliatives to meet the expectations of the people, the Indigenous people need to be brought on board.

Isaac added that if this is done, the administration will appreciate the results.

Isaac said, “We want to believe that this particular palliative was meant for all Nigerians, most especially the poorest of the poor who are living in the rural communities If that is the case, we would like the administration of the FCT under Barrister Wike Nyesom Ezenwon, not to leave the distribution in the hands of civil servants alone, we want inclusion of our stakeholders.

“This would make the process of distribution of the palliative more transparent and accountable,” Isaac assured.

He recalled that the success recorded in the palliative distribution in FCT during the COVID era was a result of the involvement of these stakeholders.

He noted that the natives will appreciate for same approach to be adopted again in the distribution of the N5 billion fuel subsidy palliative which the federal government had released to states including the FCT.

He said the inclusion would enable the people in the rural areas across the Federal Capital to benefit from it.

He also said the inclusion of the stakeholders will help sustain the goodwill being enjoyed by the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu among Abuja natives because his administration has proven to the people that it is a government of the people and for the people.

“Abuja have had it so good under this government within this very short time and we pray for this to continue because the natives can not wait for a time to pay back President Tinubu for all the good things he has been doing for us,” Isaac said.
