Nollywood must place talent above connections, says Biodun Okeowo

Popular actress, Biodun Okeowo, aka Omoborty, has urged stakeholders in Nollywood to prioritise talent over connections.
The actress, while acknowledging the growth in the country’s movie industry, also advocated for more opportunities for women in Nollywood.
She said, “I would love to see more female-led narratives, more women behind the scenes as DOPs, directors, and producers. Nollywood has evolved, no doubt, but there’s still a need for systems that promote talent over connections and create equal opportunities for female actors to thrive and shine.”
Okeowo noted that she sees success as a growth that is beyond personal accomplishments.
“Success for me is now defined by impact, not just how far I’ve come in life or the film industry, but how many lives I’ve touched through my platform and businesses. I am grateful for the growth so far, but I believe there’s still more ground to cover. So yes, I’m walking in success, but I’m still becoming,” the movie star said.
