The Federal Government has fined global global cryptocurrency exchange platform Binance $10 billion for operating illegally in Nigeria.
The was confirmed by Bayo Onanuga, a media aide to President Bola Tinubu during an interview with BBC.
This is part of the FG’s continued effort in reviving the naira against the dollars.
Reports earlier emerged that teo unnamed Binance Executives were detained by the FG when they arrived Nigeria earlier in the week to resolve the ongoing clampdown on cryptocurrency platforms.
The FG, through the EFCC and other agencies have also gone after BDC operators as part of moves to curtail the downward spiral of the naira.
