Uncertainty as hospital issues ultimatum to families over mass burial in Imo

Authority of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owerri, Imo state capital has disclosed plans to embark on the mass burial of corpses in its morgue.

Management of the hospital stated this in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Achonu Jycintha made available to newsmen urged those whose relations are missing to visit the hospital for possible Identification and collection of bodies of their deceased loved ones within two weeks.

Investigations revealed that an estimated two thousand corpses of main youths and others are littered in the Hospital’s mortuary.

It would be recalled that several persons have been missing in parts of Imo state following the activities of unknown gunmen in various local government areas of the state.

Most of the victims lost their lives during the clashes between members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and joint security agencies deployed to Orlu and Orsu towns as well as others in the wake of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) and military onslaught in troubled parts of the state.
