The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State has launched an aggressive grassroots mobilisation drive, declaring its readiness to reclaim power in the 2026 governorship election.

The move followed a high-level strategy meeting convened on Thursday by APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, during which councillors elected on the party’s platform resolved to close ranks, strengthen structures, and activate ward-level political machinery across the council.

The meeting, which drew councillors from all wards in Obokun, was part of a broader plan to reposition the party and rebuild its political dominance ahead of the crucial governorship contest.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the session, the party resolved to embark on sustained grassroots engagement, enforce internal discipline, and deepen coordination among members to ensure electoral victory.

Oyintiloye, while addressing the councillors, charged party leaders to remain united and fully committed to the mobilisation push, stressing that the outcome of the 2026 election would depend largely on grassroots strength.

“We must remain disciplined and united in our approach as we prepare for the 2026 governorship election,” he said.

He emphasised that councillors, as the closest representatives of the people, must take the lead in rebuilding confidence and expanding the party’s support base.

“Our strength lies in our presence at the ward level. We must deepen engagement with our constituents and reinforce confidence in our structures,” he added.

The councillors, in a show of solidarity, pledged to intensify political mobilisation across their wards and work collectively to secure victory for the APC.

They also resolved to strengthen collaboration among party stakeholders and ensure effective communication within the party hierarchy to avoid internal divisions.

Party leaders at the meeting expressed confidence that a united front and aggressive grassroots strategy would position the APC strongly for the 2026 governorship election.

The renewed mobilisation signals the party’s determination to consolidate its base and mount a formidable challenge in the upcoming poll.
