Nollywood actor and filmmaker Nonso Diobi has revealed that his resemblance with veteran actress Hilda Dokubo was what led to getting his first major break in the movie industry.
Narrating how it happened, the actor said Dokubo noticed him in an audition and approached the director to request that he (Diobi) play the role of her brother because of the resemblance.
In a recent interview, the movie star narrated, “Back to the story of how I got my first movie role. I was at an audition and I started hearing people calling me from afar. I approached. Before I could get close to them, Hilda Dokubo said, ‘This young boy looks like me. He can play my brother.’
“That was how I finally got my first role after three years and more than 1000 auditions. I didn’t even audition for it.”
