Sanwo-Olu names six-man panel to investigate Ikoyi building collapse

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that a six-man panel has been set up to investigate the collapse of a 21-storey building in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu made this known while speaking during a visit to the scene of the incident on Wednesday.

He confirmed that the General Manager of the Lagos Building Control Agency, Gbolahan Oki had been suspended indefinitely over the incident.

Sanwo-Olu also thanked the emergency responders whom he said were working hard to retrieve more victims when he visited the scene at about 1 am on Wednesday.

He stated that 21 bodies had been recovered so far while nine survivors were receiving treatment at the hospital.

The names of the six-man panel members include the President of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Toyin Ayinde; Dr Akintiyan Idris; Yinka Ogundairo; Godfrey O. Godfrey; Lawyer (Mrs) Bunmi Ibrahim, Ekundayo Onajobi (Panel secretary).

Sanwo-Olu added that the panel is expected to submit their report in 30 days.
