Two men, Dele Kuye and Ganiyu Oluwaseun, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, over alleged damage to bunches of banana and plantain.
Kuye and Oluwaseun, aged 51 and 30, respectively, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and wilful damage to property.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, however, pleaded not guilty.
According to the police prosecutor, Mr E. O. Adaraloye, the defendants committed the offences on Oct. 5 at 10.30 a.m. at Ajulo Agbade, Itele, Ota.
Adaraloye said that the defendants conspired to damage bunches of banana and plantain as well as a heap of cassava belonging to the complainant, Mr Raji Kamoli.
He said that the alleged offences contravened Sections 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs. A. O. Adeyemi, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each.

Adeyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed and have evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
She adjourned the case until Nov. 9 for a hearing.
