The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe has charged State Congresses Committees to see the opportunity of conducting the congresses as one to mend fences and promote unity among party members ahead 2023 general election.
Akpanudoedehe made this appeal when he inaugurated the state Congresses Committees at the National Secretariat of the party noting that the recent membership registration is a significant testament that the party is making huge progress on all fronts.
He said it is not an easy feat to manage a family not to talk of a political party that has millions of individuals as members. He commended Mai Bala Buni for showing true leadership because since President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier that the party should be returned to the people, it is the reason the party has been harvesting heavyweights into its fold.
According to him: ” In the last few months, our party has carried out some very fundamental party activities of unimaginable magnitude.
” The Membership Registration, ward/LG congresses, and the upcoming State Congresses. These are monumental landmarks that the party has achieved in so short a time, under the able leadership of H.E (Hon) Mai Mala Buni.
” To manage even a nuclear family isn’t a very easy task, how much more to manage a political family of millions of persons with varied interests, aspirations, and expectations. That is why all reasonable party men/women must give accolades to H.E Hon. Mai Mala Buni for the great work he is doing, especially with the harvest of political heavyweights into the party.
“Mr. President, as the leader of the party had in his wisdom, directed that the party be returned to the people and that is the trajectory the party has been moving. The party is being returned to the true owners of the party – the masses”, he said.
The APC scribe reiterated that the approval given by the Senate ordering political parties to adopt direct primaries is a welcome development stressing that it is in line with the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari that the party should be returned to the grassroots. He said the task before the party is total compliance.
He said party members should endeavor to put behind their bickering and grievances and also use the avenue of the National Reconciliation Committee to present their grievances for peaceful settlement of any disputes.
“Just yesterday, the Senate okayed the Direct mode of primaries for nomination of candidates and also the electronic transmission of results, subject to harmonization by the joint Committee of the National Assembly. Our party members can now appreciate the wisdom of the leader of our party – President Buhari when he pushed that the party is taken back to the grassroots.
“Therefore, it behooves on us as party leaders to sustain the progress we have made and the gains we have recorded thus far.

“We expected that every bickering is nipped in the bud, so we circle the wagons and approach 2023 elections as a unit, notwithstanding the family misunderstandings that may exist. Mr. President as our father had encouraged the setting up of the National Reconciliation Committee in order to further provide avenues and channels for persons to ventilate their grievances and essentially achieve unity.
“As Chairmen and Secretaries of the States Congresses Committees, you are expected to conduct yourself in a manner that engenders confidence in the process.
“You all were carefully selected based on your proven records. The party trusts in your strength of character. Integrity and capacity to be fair in your dealings to all shades of interests as you carry out your duties. The party’s guidelines for the exercise and the constitution of our party shall be your guide.
“The full composition of the Committees will be handed over to you tomorrow. We expect the very best from you all. On behalf of the Chairman CECPC – H.E (Hon) Mai Mala Buni, I hereby inaugurate this States’ Congresses Committee for the good of our party”, he added.
