The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has called for the exemption of Nigerian women from paying taxes.
The minister made this call at the Women, Peace and Security Sector Reference Group 4th Annual Forum 2023 in Abuja.
“Women must be empowered. Without women, there won’t be peace. When you empower a woman, you have empowered 20 women,” she said.
She further urged the agencies not to disturb women in their activities, saying no woman should be allowed to pay any tax fee.
Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, a barrister and a businesswoman based in Abuja, is known for championing women empowerment programmes that provide women with the requisite skills to upgrade their economic status.
