Alleged defamation: Nobody wants to help Speed Darlington – Lawyer

Stanley Alieke, the lawyer to rapper, Darlington Okoye aka Speed Darlington has revealed that he has exhausted all channels to secure the bail of the controversial entertainer.

In a video he released online, Alieke said people have been avoiding the case between his client and singer, Burna Boy.

He said, “We’ve gone to court, we’ve done everything a lawyer should do to get his client out. I even exhausted my connection, I’ve reached out to my political friends in Abuja and everyone but everyone is trying to not get involved claiming Akpi insulted them before. It’s nonsense. Just imagine it’s your brother who is in detention for more than a month for allegedly insulting someone and people are jubilating because they think he talks anyhow.

“Someone even told me to disassociate myself from the case because he had insulted me in the past. I believe I know Akpi more than the people talking online.”

He also slammed the police for its continuous refusal to release Akpi despite a court order to that effect.

His words, “I have no idea why the police have refused to obey court orders to release Akpi. As of Monday, the court ruled that they should release him or arraign him within 48 hours and it is over 48 hours and the police have refused to grant him bail.”

Recall that Darlington popularly known as Akpi was arrested on November 27 while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State.

His arrest was connected to abuses on Grammy award winner, Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy.
