LSVCB boss suspended over unlawful tax

Bamidele Balogun, Executive secretary of the Lagos State Film, Video and Censors Board has been suspended for demanding an unauthorised five per cent levy on audio and video contents from Iroko TV on the 31st of August, 2020.
Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for information, made it clear that such levy was not authorised by the state government, and audio and visual contents are not to be levied in the state.
As such the five per cent requested by Balogun which he had initially announced in March would be levied upon audio and visual contents, was against set down regulations and not from the government.
An official enquiry would be set up on the matter.
