2 men in court for allegedly assaulting neighbour

The police in Abuja on Thursday arraigned two men, Stephen Daniel and Kingsley David, before a Karu Grade 1 Area Court over alleged assault and causing bodily harm to their neighbour.

The defendants, who reside at Phase 1, Jikwoyi, Abuja, were arraigned on charges of joint acts, criminal force and causing hurt, but denied commission of the offences.

The prosecutor, Ayotunde Adeyanju told the court that the complainant, Amos Agwoki of Jikwoyi, Abuja reported the matter at the Jikwoyi Police Station on May 1.

Adeyanju alleged that the defendants had on April 31, beaten up the complainant and injured him on his head, which led to his admission to a Primary Health Care Centre, Orozo, Abuja.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 265 and 246 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendants to bail of N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case until July 19.
