Komsomol Alphonsus Longgap the member representing Shendam Federal Constituency of Plateau, another hand on Saturday, described the turnout of voters in the Local government elections in Shendam as impressive and a demonstration of their faith in the democratic process at the grassroots.
Longgap who voted at the Kwapuwa Polling unit expressed optimism that APC would sweep the poll due to the sterling performance of the current administration in the state.
“I’m overwhelmed with the level of turnout by our people to participate in the election; it is a show of appreciation of the democracy dividends enjoyed by the people.”
It could be recalled that the Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), on Saturday, conducted the long-awaited local government election in the 17 LGAs of the state.
The election witnessed the participation of several political parties, except the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Congress, which was barred by PLASIEC from participating in the elections.
Our reporter who visited some wards on Saturday learnt that the elections started at the right time by 8 am and witnessed large turnout in rural communities especially that of the Southern Part of Plateau.
