
A boy identified as Onyeka Umeh has been rescued by the Lagos state Fire and Rescue Service from drowning in a canal at the Ejigbo area of Lagos state.
The agency in a statement revealed that Umeh was picking plastic bottles close to the canal when he slipped and fell into it.
According to them, the eight-year-old was rescued after his companion raised alarm when he fell into the canal
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has rescued one eight years old boy, Onyeka Umeh from an open water at the extreme end of Pastor Ojediran Street behind Oba’s Palace; Ejigbo, Lagos.
“The distress call which was alerted at 15:20. hours had Ejigbo Fire Station and the Agency’s Rescue Crew mobilized to salvage the sinking boy from the canal.
“He was eventually handed over to the Police from Ejigbo Division to reunite with family”, the agency said
