A 25-year-old man, Dahiru Ahmad, on Friday appeared before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kano, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old.

Ahmad, who lives at Sheka Quarters, Kano, is facing a two-count charge of trespass and rape.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Miss Asma’u Ado, told the court that the defendant committed the offenses on July 27, at Sheka Quarters, Kano.

Ado alleged that on the same date, at 10:00 a.m., the defendant trespassed into a house at Sheka Quarters, Kano.

“In the process, the defendant forcefully had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old,” he said.

According to the prosecutor, the offenses contravened Sections 35 and 283 of the Penal Code.

Chief Magistrate Mustapha Sa’ad-Datti ordered the remand of the defendant pending advice from the state Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

He adjourned the case until Nov. 10, for mention.
