The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday in Abuja zoned the office of its National Chairman and National Secretary to the North-Central and South-West respectively.

A statement signed by the Director (Publicity), Salihu Dambatta, entitled ‘APC CECPC Approves Zoning Formula for National Convention’.

With the new formula, the South-East would now produce the Deputy National Chairman (South); South-South and Deputy National Publicity Secretary, among others.

The statement added, “During its regular meeting on March 8, 2022, the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress approved the recommendations of the Committee on Zoning.”

Under the new arrangement, the North-Central zone, which comprises Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, will now produce occupiers of the posts for National Chairman, National Vice Chairman (North Central), Deputy National Secretary, Deputy National Legal Adviser, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Zonal Secretary and Zonal Youth Leader

Others are the Zonal Organising Secretary, Zonal Women Leader, Zonal Special Leader (Persons with Disabilities – PWD) and National Ex–Officio member

The South-South, made up of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers states will produce National Vice Chairman (South-South), National Publicity Secretary, National Women Leader, Deputy National Treasurer, Deputy National Welfare Secretary and Zonal Secretary.

Others are Zonal Youth Leader, Zonal Organising Secretary, Zonal Women Leader, Zonal Special Leader (Persons with Disabilities – PWD) and National Ex – Officio Member.

With Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo states in its kitty, the South-West will produce the National Secretary, National Vice Chairman (South-West), National Youth Leader, National Physically Challenged Leader, Deputy National Auditor and Zonal Secretary.

Others are Zonal Youth Leader, Zonal Organising Secretary, Zonal Women Leader, Zonal Special Leader (Persons with Disabilities – PWD), and National Ex–Officio Member.

South-East (Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states); Deputy National Chairman (South), National Vice Chairman (South-East), National Treasurer, National Welfare Secretary, Deputy National Organising Secretary, Zonal Secretary and Zonal Youth Leader.

Others are Zonal Organising Secretary, Zonal Women Leader, Zonal Special Leader (Persons with Disabilities – PWD) and National Ex–Officio Member.

North-East (Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe states), Deputy National Chairman (North), National Auditor, National Vice Chairman (North-East), Deputy National Financial Secretary, Deputy National Women Leader, Zonal Secretary and Zonal Youth Leader.

Others are Zonal Organising Secretary, Zonal Women Leader, Zonal Special Leader (Persons with Disabilities – PWD), National Ex–Officio Member,

The North-West has Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states as catchment areas. Offices slotted for it are the National Vice Chairman (North-West), National Legal Adviser, National Organising Secretary, National Financial Secretary, Deputy National Youth Leader, Zonal Secretary and Zonal Youth Leader.

The rest are the Zonal Organising Secretary, Zonal Women Leader, Zonal Special Leader (Persons with Disabilities – PWD), National Ex-Officio Member.

The statement concluded that zonal representatives of the CECPC would coordinate the process in each zone.
