Further details were not given.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened around 7am at the Gwagwa facility located in Tasha area where grains and provisions are kept.
Recall that recently there were demonstrations in Lagos, Oyo, and Kano over hardship and high cost of living in the country.
A resident, Jaafar Aminu, disclosed to newsmen that the looting continued unrestrained till 9am and that some residents of neighbouring Jiwa and Karmo communities trooped towards the site to participate in the looting when news filtered around only for security agents to take control of the situation.
The situation caused traffic gridlock on the Gwagwa-Karmo road, which leads to the Dei-Dei and Jabi areas of Abuja.
It would also be recalled that the same warehouse was looted during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Though there was fear that the incident would spread to the Idu Industrial area where individual companies have warehouses, the Police, through the Command’s PPRO, SP Josephine Adeh, assured that everything was under control.
