JUSUN workers resume in Anambra, court sessions start Monday

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) on Tuesday resumed work in Anambra after Friday’s suspension of a strike it embarked upon in early April.

A correspondent, who monitored the resumption of workers in the state, reports that members were seen in their offices discharging their duties and discussing in groups.

However, while court proceedings did not hold in some courts, the state Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, held a court session at the Anambra State High Court, Awka.

Some other courts in Nnewi Local Government Area and Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, did not sit, although court offices were opened with workers at work.

Mr. Jude Igwebuike, the Anambra Chairman of JUSUN, commended the workers, describing their attitude to work is encouraging.

He said that majority of the courts had not started sitting, because a lot of things, like the cleaning of the offices, still needed to be put in place.

“Hopefully, our courts will resume on Monday, June 21, to enable the workers to put everything in order,” Igwebuike said.
