We pray that God will help and assist the man to perform more than his predecessors. There has not been a deliberate effort to fight crime. From my perspective, the system of governance is not helping us.
It is quite unfortunate that we are where we are. That personnel that has been tried that are not performing should be relieved of their appointments. Fighting crime should not be like doing someone a favor.
There should be commitment, determination, and the ability to show tact and seriousness. In a developed country, once an agency of government like the police is not seen to be doing well, all it requires is to restructure such a body. Ensure that everyone there is up-to-date with modern knowledge of policing.
What we have currently is not helping in any way. Go to the police station and see personnel there. Some look dirty and unkempt. At times, you wonder if some that you see you will not think that they cannot do anything because of the way they look. I feel sad and appall that we have able-body young men and women roaming the streets of Nigeria. Why can’t we have them engaged in the force?
The new IGP should see this opportunity of heading the police force as one that he really needs to sit up and deliver on the mandate trust under his care. We are tire of complaints here and there. Crime and criminal activities are still going on every day. The force should be supported with everything they can.
Most times, some of these appointments are done lopsidedly. Why appointing only Northern people often? Let other regions also feel it because it seems some of these northern former IGP were not prepared for fighting crime. We are fed up with the same old stories.

What is happening in the country is confusing. The security challenge is not helping us. Farmers cannot go to farms because they know criminal herdsmen will come and attack them.
The previous IGP of police was not competent enough. He failed woefully.
Crime doesn’t aid development. It scares investors away. The new IGP should live up to expectations. There is a crime and it appears the police are incapable of tackling the problems. Crime would have happened before you find policemen around. And, don’t be surprised that if at the end of the day innocent civilians were not arrested. The police IGP must look beyond the face of bandying words here and there. He should see the hardship people go through trying to maintain peace amongst themselves.
Our government should move into action. Security is the basis of life. Without it, we are doom together. Government must ensure the new IGP has all it takes to boost the morale of all officers. It is a fundamental fact. We cannot afford to watch while Nigerians are daily being slaughtered. We have waited for this appointment for too long. This is sure a right move to get and check the activities of these wanted criminals.
I am particularly happy that a new IGP was appointed. The last one despite his overstayed could not really do much. He was practically sleeping on the job. Let our leaders show concern for the security situation in the nation. Security should be our number priority. We are tired of the old rhetorics.
Let him pick correction from those areas his predecessor was lacking in capacity. No single state in the nation is not having one form of security challenges or order. If he performs well, he will get the encomium. But, if he keeps on sleeping, he will be booted out.

Well, this time in our Nigeria history the new Acting Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba may have a long list of what he needs to do to gain the trust and support of Nigerians.
Buhari has also turned the Nigeria Police into a Northern Police Force. This could have also contributed to list of confidence within the system.
Everyone seems the police as an enemy. Just look at the recent happenings from Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Imo and Abia states, it speaks volumes.
Honestly with what I read about him there is no doubt that the new acting IG comes at a time when the police are desperate to reinvent themselves due to the crisis brought on by the #ENDSARS protests in October 2020 and the ongoing crippling insecurity in different parts of the country.
Police are also currently beset by vicious attacks by gunmen in the geopolitical areas of the south-east and south-south, with the attack and burning of the Imo State Police Command in Owerri that comes off like a sore thumb. Insecurity is the biggest threat to Nigerians and Nigeria as a country.
Nowhere is safe and the police have continued in recent times as if they are helpless or overwhelmed. The new Acting Inspector General undoubtedly has a daunting task in ensuring that Nigerians can sleep with both eyes closed, Nigerians can hit the road and travel to any part of the country without praying to get to their destination. and become an addition to the growing list. victims of kidnapping or attacked and killed by marauding bandits and insurgents.

The challenge with the road has been on for a long. The federal government has a responsibility concerning the road. For them to have abandoned the project like that has really done serious damage to the psyche of people using the road on a daily basis. Businesses and other economic activities have been put to notorious abeyance. Lives and properties are having been under serious threat. We hear of kidnapping on that axis of the road.
This lack of interest on the road is worsening the situation. There are lots of accidents too on the road. It seems no proper attention has been devoted to the road.
We are demanding from the government to swing into action. Let the reconstruction work be done as soon as possible so that people Nigerians can resume their normal life.
We have been too held hostage by those working on the road. We are calling for urgent attention. People have died in the course of addressing the road. We should not continue like this as a people. They should fix the road and allow us to ply the road in good condition.
They are making us feel like we don’t have government. This is bad and should not be supported by anyone. Why can’t there be another link road in this modern time? Why are we still acting like all is well when we know that this is deteriorating on the road daily? Remember, this is a major link road to South West, East, and South-South.
The revenue generated from that road is something government should put into consideration. The federal government should act fast on the road. This is becoming very unbearable. There should concern from the government so that travelers will not keep sleeping on the road.
We should be more reasonable at times. I know the government is making people believe they are doing something but the fact is that most government officials also used the road and they can feel the challenge on it too.
