NDDC is cash cow for politicians, no tangible projects executed, says Wike

Immediate-past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has described the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as a cash cow for politicians across the country.

Wike said this during the flag-off of the construction of the 50.15km Portharcourt Dual Carriage Ring Road on Monday.

The outspoken politician stated that the NDDC has not executed any tangible project that will benefit the people of Niger Delta.

He said further that politicians were scrambling to head the commission so as to milk it for their own selfish interests.

Also speaking at the event, Wike commended the state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara for starting his tenure with one of the biggest projects ever in the state.

He added that Nigerians will see will marvel at Fubara’s 100 days and one year in office.

“What you (Fubara) will show in 100 days, Nigerians will be shocked, and that’s why we said continuity and consolidation are the answers. In your 100 days in office, Nigerians will see; in your one year in office, Nigerians will marvel. Who would not be happy when he sees a good thing?

“But let me also advise you: this good thing you’re doing today attracts envy and gangs up against you. You’ll see a lot of people gang up against you. Amongst your pairs, particularly in your region.

“Instead of appreciating, they’ll be asking, What is he trying to show? Just like his predecessor did, don’t bother about those things. What you should bother about is what good you would do for our people,” Wike said.
