The All Progressives Congress (APC), Anambra’ State chapter, on Saturday held a strategic meeting ahead of the general elections, to ensure over 25 percent votes were cast for its party and the Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Consequently, leadership and other Stakeholders of the party at the meeting with ward chairmen, coordinators, and youths drawn from the 362 wards across the 21 local government areas of the state and held in Awka the state capital, commissioned 8,326 votes canvassers from the wards for what they called “a must-win” election to prove a point in the state for the party.
Coordinator of the Anambra State Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) Senator Margery Chuba Okadigbo who spoke at a meeting said the election is a must-win for the party so that Anambra state must be counted among the states that delivered Ahmed Bola Tinubu at the polls.
She stressed the importance for the ward canvassers and other leaders as well as members of the APC to work hard towards delivering both the Presidential candidate and other candidates for other positions at the polls, saying that politics is like sowing a seed and investment should be allowed to grow to benefit all.

According to Senator Okadigbo, “The law says twenty-five percent spread in twenty-four states but we are going to secure over twenty-five percent and with these canvassers and ward executives as well as our agents the figure is as good as being realized.”
While expressing appreciation to the leadership of the wards for the huge mobilization during the recent Presidential rally held in Awka, Okadigbo pointed out, “People underestimated what we can do during the rally and they felt that we cannot do it and on that day even other political parties were shocked at the crowd of supporters that came to Awka and we are going to replicate this on the election day and even do more”.
A breakdown of the number of eagle-eyed commissioned canvassers indicates that ten of them on their own would appoint another ten others to work at the level of the 362 electoral wards in the state with three-man ward executives to ensure the success of the elections.
Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Basil Ejidike noted it is a new dawn for the party and it urged the members to strive for its victory at the polls.
He said attributed the success story of the APC in Anambra state to the committed roles ward executives have been playing even as he stated that the past had been put behind them.
Also, the Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Committee, Cheif Azuka Okwuosa reminded the party members of what they stand to gain if the APC wins in the election at the center.
While referring to how the party lost principal political positions during the 2015 general elections, he expressed optimism that the APC would be in the mainstream of politics in Nigeria.
Okwuosa said, “Our people don’t know that it is not good to put their eggs in one basket. We had a slot for Senate President and we lost it and also lost a lot of principal political positions”
“But the South West divided themselves with 45 percent in PDP and 55 percent in the APC and at the end of that election they did not lose out “
“In our case, we lost everything and this will not happen again because we have that impetus to win and this election is the greatest opportunity for us to be part of the new government of the APC ” he added.
