The Nigerian team to the just concluded African Boxing Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon are back in the country with their shoulders high.
Featuring six boxers at the competition, the country won four medals(one gold, one Silver, and two bronze), thus placing Nigeria on the medal table.
Adams Olaore who fought in the men’s heavyweight category, won the gold medal for Nigeria while Patricia Mbata accounted for the silver medal in the women’s middleweight class.
The two bronze medals were won by Dolapo Omole (featherweight) and Adeola Oyesiji (Light-Flyweight) in the women’s category respectively.

Technical Director of the Nigeria Boxing Federation Femi Ayandibu who was with the team in Yaounde, Cameroun, said the championship was indeed tough.
Nigeria’s participation in the competition was sponsored by the Vice President of the Nigeria boxing Federation (NBF), Azania Omo-Agege.
