The Minister of Defence Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd), on Saturday, ordered
the troops to remain highly professional and to go after the immoral elements to achieve the end state of attaining the much desired national peace and security across the federation.
Magashi who gave this charge to the 2022 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day parade and wreaths laying ceremony held at the National Arcade Abuja, also told the troops that their sacrifices will never be in vain.
Special Assistant to the Minister of Defence on Media and Publicity, Mohammad Abdulkadir in a statement said that the Defence Minister begged Nigerians to support the families of slain soldiers who paid the supreme price for survival of the nation.
He said all Nigerians are critical stakeholders in maintaining a well mobilized professionally responsible and responsive military that is capable of safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the right leadership in securing the country against external and internal aggressions, General Magashi said a buy-in by all Nigerians by aiding and speaking good about their military will be a force multiplier for the fighting forces to win the battles and not lose the war.
The Defence Minister who laid the wreath at the feet of the unknown soldier also appealed to Nigerians to complement the government’s efforts at making the families of the slain heroes comfortable to cushion the agonizing experiences of the death of their breadwinners.

He assured the surviving heroes of wars that President Muhammadu Buhari is working towards rewarding their sacrifices for the survival of the nation.
General Magashi commended the Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor and Service Chiefs for sustaining the Military Culture of “No Retreat No Surrender” until total victory is achieved in national defense at this critical time of fighting insecurity.
