
The Anambra State Police Command has intensified training programmes for its officers and key stakeholders in preparation for the forthcoming November 8November 8, gubernatorial election in the state.
The training, which spans all Area Commands, Divisions, and Tactical Units, focuses on professional conduct during elections, effective crowd management, intelligence sharing, inter-agency collaboration, and the protection of fundamental human rights.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to upholding the principles of neutrality, professionalism, and integrity throughout the electoral process.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, in a statement to journalists in Awka on Thursday,, said the Commissioner made the remarks during an ongoing intensive election-security training and refresher courseorganisedd in partnership with various Non-GovernmentalOrganisationss (NGOs) and other stakeholders.
He stated that the training forms part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to ensure a peaceful, credible, and secure governorship election.
Orutugu emphasised that the continuous capacity-building sessions are designed to enhance officers’ operational readiness and ensure the safety of voters, electoral materials, and election officials before, during, and after the polls.
The Commissioner also appealed to residents of Anambra State to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free and transparent electoral exercise across the state.
